Magic Moment

A DONEGAL woman’s tireless work for cancer patients was recognised this week when she was announced as the winner of a top prize on a hit RTE Radio One show.
Alma O’Donnell won a “Magic Moment” on the Mooney Show which was broadcast live from An Grianan Theatre to over 200,000 listeners on Wednesday.
She had been selected from a large number of worthy nominees, but knew nothing in advance.
And it was a complete surprise to her when the show host Derek Mooney announced her name.
She was sitting in the 350-strong audience at An Grianan Theatre from where the popular afternoon show was being broadcast.
“What a shock it was,” she told the Letterkenny Post.
Her prize is a two night stay getaway – including an eight course tasting dinner – at the five-star Adare Manor Hotel in Co. Limerick.
Following the death of her husband Maurice over two years ago, Carrigans-based Alma decided to get involved in helping cancer sufferers.
And her unstinting efforts have led to the establishment of the Good & New charity shop in Letterkenny.
