“Lunatics” must be stopped

Gardai are investigating an incident in the early hours of last Sunday morning in which a motorist was intimidated by youths who bum-flashed on the dual carriageway outside Letterkenny, and could have hit speeds of up to 100 mph.
An irate motorist contact the Letterkenny Post this week to relate the details of what happened last weekend.
He had been collecting two girls from a nightclub on the Port Road, one of whom was his daughter, when a passenger from a vehicle behind him got out of a British registered black Volkswagen Golf and approached his vehicle.
This annoyed him, but he drove on only to find that the same vehicle over took him on a non-passing part of the Derry road justr after the Port Bridge, with the occupants making obscene gestures and “giving the fingers.”
He reckons that the “boy racers” knew the area as he did not see them as he approached the Bonagee roundabout.
Suddenly, though, they were behind him again and they drove alongside him for a while, during which time they bared themselves out of the side window.
He subsequently alerted the gardai and was told that a squad car would be despatched.
He reckons that there were at least three people in the Golf and that it was exceeding 100 mph as it sped off towards the border.
They were not apprehended, however.
The shocked motorist says that he is very angry at what happened and is hoping that cctv footage in Letterkenny may reveal the licence number (he only got part of it) and this could assist the gardai in their enquiries.
Concerned about such incidents on our roads, he added: “When will these lunatics learn?”
