Mark’s Youth Olympics bid for glory

Letterkenny Athletic Club’s Mark English is through to Sunday’s 1,000 meters final of the inaugural World Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
On Wednesday, he ran an impressive race as he led his heat at the 400 metre and 800 metre mark before finishing fourth in a time of 2:25.39.
He was the sixth fastest of the two heats and with 12 to qualify made it safely through to the weekend’s final.
English won his Youth Olympic trial race in Moscow in May with a time of 2:24.53.
The final will be live on the internet at 3.20 am on Sunday at youtholympicgames.org
Emily Greenan from Letterkenny is also in action this weekend when she participates in the modern pentathlon on Saturday.
