Local man Gareth Boyle has been flying the flag for Donegal in the IBSF U21 World Snooker Championships, which are being held in the North West Snooker Club in Letterkenny.
Boyle has won four of his five opening matches and is currently lying in second place in his group behind Ali Alobaidli of Qatar. He will be back on the table at 7.30pm today (Thursday) to take on Egyptian Karim Mohamed Metwaly in the last of the group games.
The tournament kicked off at the weekend and Boyle enjoyed a great start to proceedings when he defeated Vladyslav Vyshnevskyy 4-1 on Sunday. He followed this up with a 4-0 win over Alatyani Abdullah Abdulrahman from Saudi Arabia and a 4-1 win over Germany’s Benedikt Griesdorn.
The Letterkenny man lost 4-3 to group leader Alobaidli but he is still in excellent position to progress to the next stage.
