Bonagee’s big cup date

Posted online: Feb 15th, 2010

Bonagee United were unlucky not to come away with a win from their last match against Drogheda Town in the FAI Intermediate Cup but they will be anxious to press home their home advantage at Dry Arch Park in the replay on Saturday.
Peter Moran’s side were on the brink of qualification after they went into the lead with a quality goal from Noel O’Donnell. Indeed, the Donegal side dominated the first half before going in front shortly after the restart.
Drogheda Town managed to break the visitors’ hearts when they got a late equaliser in the 91st minute of that match to secure a 1-1 home draw and Bonagee will be eager to turn the tables this time around.
This weekend’s replay is another chance to secure their place in the next round of the cup and a win would be a major boost for the club. Should they overcome Drogheda Town, they would join fellow Ulster Senior League side Fanad United in the quarter-finals.
The draw for the quarter-finals took place yesterday (Wednesday) and Bonagee will travel to face Dublin outfit, Tolka Rovers, if they defeat their opponents at the weekend. Fanad secured a home draw against Avondale United.
