Former Letterkenny Cllr. Damien Blake has won an MBA scholarship at the UCD Smurfit School worth €15,000.
The Letterkenny Institute of Technology research student was one of two winners in the competition run by The Irish Times, the other successful applicant being Colin Goulding from Dublin.
Mr. Blake, who is currently the Digital Media director of Strawberrry Media – part of the River Media group which publishes the Letterkenny Post – started building websites when he was just 13.
A native of Letterkenny, he is a past pupil of St. Eunan’s College, and a current post-graduate research student at LYIT.
Mr. Blake, who is a former Mayor of Letterkenny, has build up strong links with many businesses, both locally and nationally.
“The MBA is a massive opportunity to develop top-class business skills to compliment my technical abilities and skills that I’ve picked up through my position as a public representative,” he said.
Although still based in Letterkenny, he will attend classes at the UCD Smurfit School on Fridays and Saturdays.
