Students with talent

Five talented students from Co Donegal are among the 87 successful applicants who have received new scholarships for third level education from Bank of Ireland.
The Donegal scholars include Ciaran Kelly, Lifford, Conor McDaid, Buncrana, Charlene Craig, Moville, Orla McHardy, Donegal Town and Angel Hannigan, Killybegs. Valued at over €1m, these scholarships allow students who face economic, social or physical barriers an opportunity to access third level education.
Ciaran is studying Veterinary medicine at UCD, Conor is also at UCD studying Chemical Engineering, and Angel is a student of Acting at the Gaiety School of Acting. Charlene is studying Acting at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and Orla is completing a Masters in Studio, Department of Film, Video and New Media at the School of Art Institute in Chicago.
The Bank also announced that a total of 662 scholarships, ranging in value from €3,000 to €40,000 per annum, have now been awarded by the Bank’s Millennium Scholars Trust. The Trust was established in 2000, providing a fund of €12.5m, and was the largest single millennium initiative from either the State or private sources. It has enabled 662 students pursue their dreams of attending college irrespective of age, background or the discipline they wish to study.
