Letterkenny darts player, Martin McCloskey, will begin his bid to win the World Darts Championship 2010 when he takes on England’s Steve West at the Lakeside Country Club on Monday.
The Donegal man will be one of 11 debutants to compete in the competition, which will be televised on BBC. McCloskey will face a more experienced opponent in his first match, which will be decided on a best-of-five-legs basis.
West has been in the last two Lakeside championships and will be joined in the final 32 by his brother, Tony.
McCloskey will be flying the flag for Ireland in the competition, with a prestigious world title and a cheque for £100,000 up for grabs.
The match between McCloskey and West starts at 8.40pm on Monday.
