Donegal’s minor consolation

Donegal 0-14
Antrim 0-11

Martin Regan’s minor side had to play to their strengths before overcoming a dogged Antrim side in MacCumhaill Park on Sunday afternoon.
Regan’s lads totally dominated the first quarter as they raced into a six point lead thanks to the boots of Christopher Barrett, Michael McEniff (3), Dermot Molloy and James Doherty.
But a lack of concentration during the final few minutes of the first half meant that the home side went in at the break three points to the good instead of five.
It was that glimmer of hope that gave the visitors renewed belief and optimism after the re-start as they twice came to within two points of Donegal’s coat-tails.
Donegal failed to get the much needed goal to pull away and it was a nervy closing period.
