A Letterkenny B&B has won the Gulliver Ireland Tourism Accommodation Award for the best B&B in the North West Region.
Fycorranagh House Bed And Breakfast, on the Cullion Road, overcame stiff opposition to win the prestigious national tourism award. Linda Ingram, who runs Fycorranagh House Bed And Breakfast, told the Post that it would be a good boost for her business.
“This is my seventh year in the business. It’s very nice to receive an award and to be appreciated for the work that goes into it. It’s hard work.”
The awards are in their fifth year and highlight the best examples of hotels, B&B’s, guesthouses and self-catering facilities in seven regions throughout Ireland. One winner is selected as an example of excellence in each category for each region.
“I think it will attract more people to myself and to the local region,” said Linda.
Winners were evaluated on their online sales management, which included criteria such as room availability, allocation, competitive pricing and property information. Donegal businesses won all but one of the categories in the North West Region, with the Atlantic Guesthouse in Donegal Town and An Chuirt Hotel in Gaoth Dobhair also winning their sections. Downings Coastguard Cottages also won the GoIreland.com Best Enhanced Listing at the awards.
“It will help put Donegal on the map,” added Linda.
