A Letterkenny Lotto player has missed out on the chance to drive away a brand new Porsche Cayman after failing to claim the sports car ahead of this week’s deadline.
The luxurious two-seater car had to be claimed by Tuesday evening, however, the National Lottery confirmed to the Letterkenny Post this week that the winner failed to turn up in time.
The winning ticket was sold in Supervalu, Letterkenny prior to the May 21st Lotto Plus 2 draw. The numbers drawn were 4, 14, 28, 29, 31, 39 and the bonus was 36. The ticket holder had 90 days from the day of the draw to collect their prize, but time ran out on Tuesday August 19 when the deadline passed.
The cars – worth €100,000 each – were won in May as part of a special Lotto draw for players who matched five numbers and the bonus number. The Letterkenny player was among five winners of the Porsches around the country including Dublin, Galway and Wexford who failed to collect their brand new sports car or the alternative cash prize of €100,000. The unclaimed cash will now go into a special fund and be used in future draws.
A National Lottery spokeswoman is urging players to always check their tickets.
“If someone hears that the jackpot has already been won they generally don’t check their tickets. However, there are always other prizes on offer and you could miss out by not checking.”
