Glorious Letterkenny

Letterkenny remained a haven of heat today, Thursday, as a long awaited spell of good weather has brought the droves back to the parks and beaches, and injected life into the oldest of dogs!
The May Bank Holiday is traditionally the start of the summer and usually brings with it at least one day of bearable weather. However, the gods were looking down on us this year as the first sneaky ray last Saturday has prevailed and is set to keep us smiling until at least the weekend!
Runners in the Northwest 10k reported devilish temperatures as they embarked on the round-the-town athletic feat last Sunday. But there were no complaints for even the most tired of competitors on a day that has in the past seen downpours.
Monday saw beer gardens and back gardens fill with cold drinks and barbeque smells as a day off work was savoured and hailed as one of the best Bank Holidays yet. Business was booming also as people opted for outdoor cafes and a relaxing drink in the shade.
Heading back to work didn’t hamper the mood either as the Letterkenny Town Park was buzzing to capacity most days during lunch hours and into the early evening and tourists visiting the town were checking their guidebooks to see make sure they were in the right destination.
One American remarked yesterday, Wednesday: “I can’t believe it! This is Letterkenny?! It’s glorious!”
Others commented that on previous trips they have never seen the town looking so, well, sunny!
