10,000 reasons to vote for St. Bernadette’s
Letterkenny’s St. Bernadette’s Special School received word yesterday, Wednesday that they have been short listed as one of the local deserving children’s projects in contention for a €10,000 award from AIB Letterkenny through the Better Ireland Programme.
The branch will award €10,000 to the local project that tops the poll in a public text vote over a four-week period from May 6th to June 6th and Principal Elaine Bonnar urged everyone to get behind this school by texting their vote.
“We are thrilled to be short listed for this award from AIB Letterkenny through the Better Ireland Programme,” Elaine commented yesterday.
“We really need the local community to get behind us and give us their text votes. Winning €10,000 would allow us to continue our efforts with the school garden and grounds and greatly enhance the environment for the children in the school. So I would ask everyone to get texting to ensure we top the poll,” she enthused.
St. Bernadette’s Special School is involved in the education of children, ages five to 18 with special educational needs, and caters for the whole county, from Letterkenny and surrounding areas, to Dungloe, Lifford, Falcarragh, Milford, Ramelton, Fanad, Carrigart, Downings, and Ballybofey.
The award is part from AIB’s programme for Better Ireland supports children with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities and also children affected by drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness or a lack of access to mainstream education due to poverty.
The school has complete their Green Flag and Waste and Energy programmes and most recently, launched a new nature walk at the school which will be completely worked upon by the students.
So, to support St. Bernadette’s, simply text LETTERK and C to 53099 to vote.
“The more texts St. Bernadette’s Special School get the better chance the group has to top to text poll and claim the €10,000 award,” Elaine continued. “
Each text vote costs 60 cent and proceeds generated by the text voting for St. Bernadette’s Special School will be donated to the group,” she concluded.
