The Republican Defense Army has denied any involvement in last week’s murder of Andrew Burns but have warned they will kill another man if he does not leave the country.

Using a recognised codeword, a spokesman for the RDA contacted the Letterkenny Post and in a statement demanded those responsible for the killing of Andrew Burns to admit it.

The man said: “We did not shoot Burns and the person or people who did this and are using our name must stand up and tell the community it was them.

“We shot Michael McDaid in St Johnston. We told him to leave the Country but he didn’t. We are going to shoot him dead.”

The RDA spokesman reiterated a warning to those who used the group’s name in connection with the Doneyloop murder, adding: “the people who did this and are using our name will be dealt with”.

The Letterkenny Post has also learned of a further two men from the North West area who have been warned to leave the country within 72 hours or they too will be “dealt with”. One of these men is understood to be living in Co. Donegal
