Finn Harps are suddenly riding the crest of a wave – and the bid for promotion from the eircom League First Division is once again very much on.
After a display start to the season – Harps won just once in their first eight outings – the Donegal club hit top form last weekend as they thumped Kilkenny City 5-0.
And on Monday they were 2-1 down with 87 minutes on the clock before they pounced twice to overcome Sligo Rovers 3-2 in a cracking League Cup clash.
This thrilling win means that Harps are now in the last eight of the competition which as qualification for the Setanta Cup as the added carrot for the winners this year.
Manager Paul Hegarty was delighted with the two displays, and is now hoping that his side can build on it this Friday when they take on runaway league leaders Dundalk at Finn Park (kick-off 8.00 pm).
Dundalk are unbeaten in nine league games and are 12 points ahead of Harps. However, Harps are just seven points of third spot – and a play-off space – and while they will be going all out for victory, even a draw will show that Hegarty’s side have turned the corner.
